Scarce Record Marples M603, 3/4", Vintage Splitproof Mortice Chisel, Hand Forged in Sheffield England. The chisel is in hardly used / excellent condition and does not appear to have been struck. The original electro-etched makers marks are a little faded, but still visible on the blade. This model was introduced by Record Marples, when they took full control of the company. In the 603 model, the distinctive handle is green and transparent, but also rotated by 90 degrees, to aid levering. I had been collecting vintage Marples chisels for several years before I learned that a green transparent handle existed. The chisel is sharp, and ready for use.
